PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST
This is a breathing test that helps determine the type of breathing disorder present. It often involves sitting in a small glass chamber and may involve use of an inhaler during the test (see picture)
SLEEP APNEA TESTING
Testing that is commonly performed in the home to help determine if you have a sleep disorder. Equipment for testing can often be provided here in the office and patients are instructed here on proper use of the equipment
PREOPERATIVE ASSESSMENTS
Evaluations to help determine whether patients are appropriate for certain surgical procedures. This may involve further testing such as pulmonary function tests
CHEST ULTRASOUND
Noninvasive testing with a small probe placed on the back to determine whether findings such as fluid in the chest is present.
HOME OXYGEN TESTING: 6 MINUTE WALK
A simple test which involves walking in the hallway to help determine whether oxygen may be of benefit.
FENO Testing
Uses a simple NIOX device which can help determine whether certain treatments for asthma may be beneficial
EKG
Electrocardiogram which evaluates the electrical activity of the heart, which is often involved in diseases of the lung and breathing
DELIVERY OF INJECTIONS
Injections can now be given which for many patients has revolutionized the care of Asthma. Bay Area Chest Physicians is on the front line for state of the art asthma care and our office staff is equipped to prescribe and deliver injections in certain patients
